How to send SMS or text message for free using iPhone

he telecom giants like ATnT are crunching money with their SMS plans. Sending SMS has become a necessity and a costly affair, but do you now that you can send free SMS or Text messages to your friends for absolutely free. Follow the steps below to send free SMS via iPhone. 

Step 1: Download a chat client for your iPhone
Visit the Apple App Store and download the free AIM client for the iPhone [Download].

Step 2: Add your friend’s phone to your buddy list
Open your desktop AIM client (iChat or Pidgin or any other of your choice) and add a new contact to which you want to send the SMS. Do not enter your friend’s AOL name/ID, enter their phone number using the format below:
+1[area code][7-digit phone number]. For Example- +12022765000

Make sure while entering the number you are following the format. Do not put any white space or hyphens between the phone number. Change the contact’s name to exact name of your friend for easy identification.Your friend’s mobile contact info should now appear in your buddy list.
Step3: Sending Free SMS
Launch AIM in you iPhone. You should be able to view your new contact information.
Tap the buddy name, compose a text message (140 characters), and tap Send.

When the other person receives your sms message and reply to your message, the return message will appear in AIM . Well you friend will have to pay for receiving and replying to the sms as per plans.
